In a groundbreaking move to bring government services directly to the people of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the ‘Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Duar’ scheme in the state. Under this initiative, camps will be set up at the village and mohalla levels to offer services to the citizens, eliminating the need for them to visit government offices for routine administrative tasks.
Addressing the gathering at the camp’s inauguration, Chief Minister Mann declared it a historic day for the state, emphasizing that now government officials will reach out to citizens, providing services at their doorsteps. Mann expressed the belief that this scheme truly empowers the people, showcasing the government’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens.
The Chief Minister highlighted the success of a previous scheme launched in December 2023, offering 43 crucial government services at citizens’ rates. Under this initiative, any citizen can call the helpline number 1076, fix a convenient time, and have a government employee visit their home to provide the necessary service certificate.
With the introduction of ‘Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Duar,’ Punjab plans to set up 11,600 camps in rural and urban areas this month, with four camps organized daily in each tehsil. The initiative aims to increase awareness about the camp locations, dates, and times to facilitate citizen participation.
Major authorities, including SDM, Tehsildar, District Social Security Officer, District Food Supply Officer, SHO, District Welfare Officer, Kanungo, Patwari, and SDM, will be present at these camps to process applications and provide services. Chief Minister Mann illustrated that services such as verifying documents, obtaining residence certificates for college admissions, and addressing complaints will be streamlined through this initiative.
Mann emphasized that this citizen-friendly approach is unprecedented and will bring relief to the people, eliminating the need for them to navigate government offices. He highlighted the significance of these camps in making the government more accessible and responsive to citizens’ needs, fostering transparency and accountability.
This initiative is not just about providing services but also serves as a platform for citizens to voice concerns, complaints, and suggestions regarding government services or issues. Chief Minister Mann pointed out that previous administrations overlooked such people-friendly initiatives, causing inconvenience to the public. With ‘Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Duar,’ a new era of citizen empowerment has dawned, sparing people the hassle of visiting government offices while bringing government services directly to their homes.
