In the Borobekara area of Manipur’s Jiribam district, a primary health center was set on fire by unidentified assailants this morning. The incident occurred less than 200 meters from a police post, but fortunately, the center was empty at the time, and no injuries were reported. Security forces were quickly dispatched to the scene, initiating an investigation and starting operations to secure the area.
This attack is part of a series of violent incidents in the region, with a recent incident on September 7 resulting in the deaths of five people. The broader conflict in Manipur has led to the deaths of over 200 individuals and displaced thousands. The violence largely stems from clashes between the Meitei community, who live in the Imphal valley, and the Kuki community, who reside in the nearby hilly areas. As tensions remain high, authorities continue their efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
