In a high-scoring and nail-biting IPL match, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by one wicket, chasing down a massive target of 210 runs in 19.3 overs. Ashutosh Sharma played a sensational knock, hitting a match-winning six off spinner Shahbaz Ahmed to seal the victory for his team. He remained unbeaten on 66 runs off just 31 balls, smashing five fours and five sixes.
Delhi’s Chase: A Dramatic Finish
Chasing 210, Delhi had multiple contributors. Vipraj Nigam played a quick cameo, scoring 39 off 15 balls, while Tristan Stubbs added 34 from 22 deliveries. Captain Axar Patel also made a useful 22 runs from 11 balls. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Ashutosh Sharma held his nerve to guide DC to an unforgettable win.
Lucknow’s bowlers put up a tough fight, with Shardul Thakur, M Siddharth, Digvijay Rathore, and Ravi Bishnoi picking up two wickets each.
Lucknow’s Strong Start with the Bat
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, LSG got off to a flying start. Nicholas Pooran smashed 75 runs off 30 balls, hitting six fours and seven sixes, while Mitchell Marsh scored 72 off 36 balls with six fours and six sixes. David Miller added an unbeaten 27 to take LSG to 209/8.
At one stage, Lucknow seemed on course for a 240+ total, but Delhi’s bowlers made a strong comeback. Mitchell Starc took three wickets, Kuldeep Yadav got two, while Vipraj Nigam and Mukesh Kumar claimed one each to restrict LSG in the final overs.
With this thrilling victory, Delhi Capitals secured crucial points in the IPL, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
