Ludhiana,9 jan ( Sandeep Dhand) : The Special B.Ed course in New Delhi has been discontinued for two years in the country, with recognition denied. Starting from the 2024-25 academic session, only the 4-year Special B.Ed course will be acknowledged, as per the notice by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). RCI, governing various educational institutions, has granted recognition to Special B.Ed courses across diverse institutions/universities in the country. In the circular, RCI mentions that due to the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, the 2-year Special B.ed course has been halted, and now only the 4-year Special B.ed course will be accepted.
Approximately 1000 institutions/universities nationwide offer this course. RCI member Sakattar Vikaas Trivedi, in the released circular, stated that the Integrated Teachers Education Program (ITEP) under NIEP-2020, managing the 4-year B.ed program, is now under their administration. RCI will apply this structure to the upcoming session, approving only the 4-year B.ed (Special Education) program. As per the information, NCTE is preparing a new syllabus for the Special B.ed Integrated Course, and RCI will enforce it. The syllabus is designed to meet the specific needs of special students, focusing on integrated teaching methods and tailored for the Integrated Teaching Program.
