A wave of fear and chaos spread across several districts of Punjab on Wednesday after multiple court complexes received bomb threat emails. The threatening messages warned that court buildings would be blown up using RDX, forcing authorities to take immediate and strict security measures.

According to information available so far, court complexes in Ferozepur, Moga, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Faridkot, and Sri Anandpur Sahib have received similar threat emails. The emails were reportedly sent by unidentified individuals, creating serious concern among police and security agencies across the state.

As soon as the threats were received, Punjab Police went on full alert. All affected court complexes were evacuated without delay. Judges, lawyers, court staff, litigants, and visitors were asked to leave the premises immediately to ensure safety. Entry into the court buildings has been completely restricted until further notice.

Several court complexes were quickly turned into high-security zones resembling police cantonments. Heavy police deployment, including armed personnel, was seen outside the courts. Bomb Disposal Squads and Dog Squads were rushed to the locations and detailed search operations were launched. Every corner of the court premises, including parking areas, offices, and corridors, is being thoroughly checked.

In many places, the sudden evacuation led to panic-like situations. Eyewitnesses said people rushed to take out their vehicles from parking areas, resulting in chaos and confusion. Lawyers, litigants, and staff appeared visibly frightened as police acted swiftly and firmly, asking everyone to move out without providing detailed explanations at that moment.

In Rupnagar, the district court complex received a bomb threat email around 11 am, reportedly addressed to the Sessions Judge. Police teams reached the spot immediately and evacuated the entire complex. Due to a large crowd gathering outside the court premises, the situation became tense for some time. Former District Bar Association President Amrik Singh Katwal stated that the threat also mentioned courts in Chandigarh and Ropar, making the situation even more sensitive.

In Ferozepur and Moga, similar threat emails caused complete shutdowns of court operations. Gates were closed, hearings were suspended, and all individuals inside were moved to safer locations. Ludhiana Police also received what sources described as a highly sensitive threat email, increasing concerns of a possible coordinated attempt to spread terror.

So far, no official confirmation of explosives has been made. Senior police officers have refrained from making detailed public statements, stating only that investigations are ongoing. However, this silence has added to public anxiety.

Police officials have assured that all necessary precautions are being taken and there is no need for panic. Cyber teams are also working to trace the source of the emails. Authorities have emphasized that public safety remains the top priority and strict action will be taken against those responsible for creating fear and disrupting judicial work.
The situation remains under close watch as security agencies continue their investigation across Punjab.
