The Central Government has directed telecom operators in Manipur to maintain records of every citizen’s calls for five years. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued these instructions to the Department of Telecom to monitor the activities of armed militants. This decision follows recent violence in the state. On November 7, militants attacked a tribal-dominated village in Jiribam, killing a woman who was reportedly raped and burnt to death. Days later, on November 11, suspected militants targeted a CRPF camp, resulting in 10 deaths.

Schools and Colleges to Remain Closed
The Manipur government has cancelled its earlier order to reopen schools and colleges in Imphal Valley and Jiribam. Educational institutions in districts like Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, and Jiribam will remain closed for a week due to fresh violence in the state. Prohibitory orders have been imposed to ensure safety. The Directorate of Education stated that schools scheduled to reopen on November 25 will remain shut on November 25 and 26. Similar instructions have been issued for colleges. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged citizens to follow safety measures.
