India has seen a slight increase in active Covid-19 cases, with the current number reaching 2,710. In the last 24 hours, seven people have died due to the infection, and 1,170 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
Most of the deaths were among people who had serious health problems already. In Delhi, a 60-year-old woman who had surgery for an intestinal problem died. Covid-19 was found incidentally during her treatment. Gujarat also reported one death, but more details are yet to be shared.
In Karnataka, a 70-year-old man with diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease passed away due to sudden heart and lung failure. His Covid test result is still awaited. Maharashtra reported two deaths. One of them was a 67-year-old man who had severe lung issues and other illnesses. The other was a 21-year-old man with diabetes and a serious lung infection. One of these deaths was added to the total after reviewing older data.
Punjab reported the death of a 39-year-old man who had Hepatitis B and breathing issues. Tamil Nadu also reported one death, involving a 60-year-old man with multiple long-term health problems.
Kerala continues to report the highest number of active Covid-19 cases at 1,147. Some states are still updating their data, and Bihar has not yet shared its daily report.
Health authorities say they are fully prepared to manage any increase in Covid-19 cases. The government has reviewed hospitals, oxygen plants, and ICU beds to ensure everything is in place. Officials say the country’s health systems are ready to handle any situation if case numbers go up again.
