A case of fraud has been registered against a man accused of posing as a doctor with a fake medical degree. The accused, Shubham Awasthi, was reportedly a former co-convener of the BJP’s Jabalpur Medical Cell. He is now under investigation for using a fake degree to secure a job at a government hospital.

The case was filed on April 5, just two days before another alleged fake cardiologist was arrested from a missionary hospital in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh. The growing number of such cases has raised serious concerns about fake medical practitioners working in government hospitals.

According to Inspector Nehru Singh Khande of the Civil Lines Police Station, Shubham Awasthi has been booked under charges of fraud. He is accused of presenting a fake AYUSH degree to gain employment at the Seth Govind Das District Hospital in Jabalpur. The FIR was registered following directions from the court after a complaint was lodged about his qualifications.

The complaint stated that Awasthi had been working at the hospital for some time despite lacking a valid and recognized medical degree. Authorities suspect that he may have misled patients and staff by pretending to be a qualified doctor.

This incident has sparked outrage and prompted questions about how such individuals manage to infiltrate the healthcare system without proper verification. The police are currently investigating how he obtained the fake degree and whether any other individuals or institutions were involved in the fraud.

This is the latest in a string of cases where individuals with false credentials have been caught working in sensitive positions, highlighting the urgent need for stricter background checks and verification procedures in the medical sector.
