In a press statement issued today, prominent farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, spearheading the ongoing farmers’ struggle at Shambhu and Dhabigujran borders, has called on the government to expedite the compensation and job process for the family of late farmer Shubkaran Singh. Shubkaran tragically lost his life to a bullet on the Dhabigujran border on February 21.
Dallewal emphasized the urgency of ensuring the one crore compensation, as announced by the government, reaches Shubkaran’s family promptly. Additionally, he urged swift action on the documentation process for appointing Shubkaran’s younger sister, Gurpreet Kaur, as a constable in the Punjab Police – a commitment made by the authorities.
Highlighting the significance of the Bhog event scheduled for March 3 in memory of Shubkaran, Dallewal stressed that delivering the compensation beforehand is crucial. He further urged authorities to provide Gurpreet Kaur with the appointment letter before the memorial event.
As the farmers’ movement continues, the call for timely support to the families of those who sacrificed their lives remains a central concern for the leaders spearheading the agitation.
