Another person has been arrested in Assam for showing support towards Pakistan after the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. With this, the total number of such arrests in the state has now reached nine. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared this update on Saturday.
The latest arrest was made on Friday night in the Sribhoomi district. According to the Chief Minister, the accused had posted “Pakistan Zindabad” on Facebook. Sarma made this information public through a post on social media platform X.
Earlier, on Thursday, two people were arrested, including Aminul Islam, a legislator from the opposition party AIUDF. Following that, six more arrests were made across the state on Friday.
In his social media post on Friday, Sarma strongly warned that Assam will not tolerate any individual who, either directly or indirectly, supports or defends Pakistan in relation to the horrifying attack in Pahalgam. He added that such behavior is against the spirit of the nation and will be dealt with strictly.
The Chief Minister’s tough stand reflects the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards any expression of support for terrorism. The police and security agencies have been actively monitoring social media platforms for any suspicious activities.
The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has deeply saddened and angered the nation. In this sensitive time, any action or statement favoring the enemy country is being taken very seriously by authorities.
Assam’s government has made it clear that they stand firmly with the victims and will ensure that no anti-national activity is allowed to spread. More investigations are ongoing, and strict action is promised against anyone found guilty.
