The Haryana government led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced that the murder case of school teacher Manisha will be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The case has become a major political and social issue in Bhiwani district.
Case Timeline and Protests
Manisha, a teacher at a playway school, left home on 11 August for nursing college admission but never returned. Her body was found on 13 August in fields near Singhani village. The post-mortem on 14 August confirmed that her throat was slit, but ruled out sexual assault. Dissatisfied, the family demanded multiple post-mortems. They are now insisting on a third autopsy at AIIMS Delhi before performing her final rites.
For the past ten days, the family has refused to cremate the body and villagers have staged continuous protests. The government, under pressure, has suspended several police officers, transferred the SP, and imposed an internet ban in Bhiwani till 21 August.
Trust Crisis and Political Angle
The case reflects a growing trust deficit between people and the administration. Opposition parties are already targeting the government over law and order. The decision to hand over the case to the CBI and allow an AIIMS post-mortem shows that the government acted under public pressure.
