Prime Minister to Visit Flood-Hit States
Heavy rainfall has created destruction from hilly states to plains. According to government sources shared by ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon visit the flood-affected states. Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi have reported heavy damage due to floods. In Delhi-NCR, continuous rainfall has pushed the Yamuna River above the danger mark, submerging several areas. In Noida, Sector-135 and Sector-151 are under water, with 3 to 4 feet of flooding in many places.
Schools Closed in Haryana
In Haryana, schools in Panchkula, Hisar, Rohtak, and Jhajjar have been closed. Some schools in Fatehabad, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, and Faridabad were also shut. In Gurugram, Signature Global Salora Society was completely flooded, leaving women and children trapped inside their homes.
Punjab Faces Major Loss
The death toll in Punjab floods reached 43 on Thursday. Over 3.55 lakh people from 1,655 villages in 23 districts have been affected. Around 1.71 lakh hectares of crops have been destroyed. However, the weather department has predicted no rainfall in Punjab for the next five days, which may bring some relief.
Floods in Rajasthan
In Rajasthan’s Ajmer, heavy rain on Thursday night led to the collapse of the Boraj pond wall. Over 1,000 houses were flooded, vehicles washed away, and rescue operations continued late into the night.
