On Thursday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Indian government is in regular contact with Iranian authorities to locate three Indian nationals who recently went missing in Iran. He assured that India is receiving good cooperation from the Iranian side and that every possible effort is being made to ensure the safety and safe return of the missing individuals.
Speaking at a press briefing, Jaiswal mentioned that the families of the missing citizens are being fully supported and regularly informed about the steps being taken. When asked about repeated incidents of Indians going missing in Iran and reports of ransom calls from Pakistan, Jaiswal acknowledged the concerns and said that the government is taking the matter very seriously.
He said, “As you may have seen in the statement issued by our embassy in Iran, three Indian nationals who recently arrived in Iran have gone missing. We are in constant touch with Iranian authorities for their safety and safe return. Our embassy is in daily contact with local officials.”
Jaiswal added, “We are getting strong cooperation from the Iranian side. We are also in touch with the families. Naturally, there is anxiety and concern among the family members, and we are doing everything we can to assist them. We are making every possible effort in this situation.”
According to the official statement released by the Indian Embassy, families of the missing individuals have informed the mission that their relatives have gone missing after traveling to Iran. The embassy has strongly raised the issue with Iranian officials and urged them to find the missing persons immediately and ensure their safety. Updates are being shared regularly with the families.
