Mallikarjun Kharge Marks Two Years as Congress President, Receives Praise from Party Leaders

Mallikarjun Kharge celebrated his two-year anniversary as Congress President, with senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, and Kumari Selja acknowledging his contributions to the party. Kharge officially took on the role on October 26, 2022, becoming the first non-Gandhi to be elected Congress President at the age of 24. Now 82, Kharge marked the milestone by cutting two cakes at his residence, joined by Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders.

During his leadership, Kharge guided the party in the 2024 general elections, helping Congress secure 99 seats, an improvement from the 52 seats won in 2019. Under his tenure, the Congress also formed governments in Himachal Pradesh (2022), Karnataka, and Telangana (2023), highlighting a series of significant wins for the party.

In a congratulatory post on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi extended his “heartiest congratulations and best wishes” to Kharge on his two-year presidency. Kharge’s leadership is widely seen as pivotal for Congress, as he continues to work toward strengthening the party’s position nationally and bringing new momentum to its ranks.
