The NEET-PG 2025 examination has now been rescheduled to August 3, 2025. This decision came after the Supreme Court allowed the National Board of Examinations (NBE) more time to conduct the exam in a single shift, as directed earlier by the Court.

Initially, the exam was planned for June 15 in two shifts. However, the Supreme Court ordered it to be held in a single shift, which required doubling the number of exam centres from 450 to around 900. According to the NBE, this change needs additional time for preparation, including identifying more test centres and ensuring strong security measures.

NBE informed the Court that over 2.5 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam, which demands major logistical arrangements. These include providing computers at all centres, setting up backup power, improving internet connectivity, installing security software, and ensuring anti-cheating systems.

The exam’s technology partner, TCS, has confirmed that August 3 is the earliest available date to hold the test with these new requirements. Also, the application window needs to be reopened to allow candidates to choose their test cities again.

Once the cities are selected, new admit cards will be issued, and test centre details will be shared at least two weeks before the exam. Extra manpower such as invigilators, security staff, and IT teams must also be hired and trained.

The Supreme Court, after reviewing all these challenges, accepted the reasons and granted the NBE’s request. However, the Court clearly mentioned that no further extension will be given. All arrangements must be completed in time to ensure a smooth and fair exam on August 3.
