A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Kolkata today to record the statements of family members of one of the victims killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. According to officials, the NIA team spoke to the relatives of Bitan Adhikari, who was among the 26 tourists killed in the attack near Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley on April 22.
Bitan Adhikari was shot dead along with 25 others in a brutal terror attack that shocked the nation. Keeping a close watch on anti-terror activities, the NIA team also visited the Behala area in Kolkata on Saturday. They met the family members of another victim, Sameer Guha, to record their statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
Bitan Adhikari (resident of Baishnabghata, Kolkata), Sameer Guha (from Sakar Bazar, Kolkata), and Manish Ranjan (from Jhalda, Purulia) were among the victims from West Bengal who lost their lives in the tragic attack.
Officials had earlier mentioned that special teams from the NIA had started reaching out to eyewitnesses, including tourists who survived the deadly assault. These testimonies are considered crucial in piecing together the events leading up to the attack and identifying those responsible.
The NIA is taking swift action to gather evidence and ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families. The agency continues to focus on all angles, including local support networks, as part of its broader investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
