Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, alleging that it aims to reintroduce inheritance tax while indulging in religious appeasement tactics. Speaking at an election rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena, Modi asserted that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had abolished inheritance tax to safeguard Indira Gandhi’s property from government confiscation. He accused the Congress of hypocrisy, highlighting their recent advocacy for inheritance tax despite their previous stance.

Modi warned that if the Congress were to return to power, it would burden the people by imposing hefty inheritance taxes, claiming it could take away more than half of individuals’ income. Vowing to protect the citizens from such policies, Modi pledged to act as a barrier between the Congress and the people, thwarting any attempts at what he described as “looting.”

The Prime Minister also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the caste census, dismissing them as attempts to divert attention from the Congress’s alleged intentions. Modi accused the Congress of contemplating intrusive measures such as X-raying people’s properties and valuables, ostensibly to confiscate jewelry and small savings. He attributed these proposals to Congress advisors and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to thwarting them.

Furthermore, Modi accused the Congress of exploiting caste dynamics for political gains, alleging that it aims to jeopardize the reservation system by appeasing certain religious groups. He asserted that the BJP stands for equitable resource allocation, prioritizing the welfare of all citizens, including the economically disadvantaged.

Modi’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions as the election season progresses, with both the BJP and Congress intensifying their campaigns ahead of crucial state and national elections.
