In a significant move towards bolstering West Bengal’s development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated key railway and road projects exceeding ₹4500 crore. Speaking at the ‘Viksit Bharat Vikasit West Bengal’ event, Modi highlighted the Central Government’s unwavering commitment to the state’s progress. He criticized the historical neglect of eastern India post-independence, emphasizing the transformative efforts now underway.
The Prime Minister took a swipe at the Congress, underscoring the sluggish development in the region. Modi pledged to rectify this by ensuring that the acceleration of train speeds in North West Bengal matches the national pace. Addressing the historical disparities, he stated, “Eastern India has languished in neglect for far too long.”
