Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a key meeting today with All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee observers. The focus of the meeting was to discuss the selection process for the heads of 41 district units of the party in Gujarat, according to local leaders.

During the meeting, Gandhi stressed the importance of connecting with the public and raising their issues, stating that people are growing increasingly frustrated with the current government. He emphasized that unless party leaders actively engage with the people, the Congress party will not gain widespread support.

Former MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh, who was present at the meeting, shared that Gandhi urged all party leaders to be more involved in public struggles and to speak out on behalf of the people. The meeting took place at the Congress headquarters and lasted for about two hours.

As part of the leadership selection process, the observers’ team will suggest six names for each district unit president position. The final selections are expected to be completed by May 31.

It is worth noting that on April 12, Congress had appointed 42 AICC and 183 State Congress Committee observers to oversee the appointments in 33 districts and 8 major cities of Gujarat.

Former Gujarat Congress president Jagdish Thakor stated that Rahul Gandhi gave important guidance on the process. He also confirmed that a five-member observer team will visit all 41 district units between April 23 and May 8 to complete the evaluation and recommendation process.

The party hopes that this grassroots-level leadership revamp will help strengthen the organization and reconnect with the public across Gujarat.
