There are many medicines used to treat TB. The treatment usually includes a combination of drugs taken for several months. Some common medicines used in TB treatment are Streptomycin injections and Isoniazid tablets.

Streptomycin is given as an injection. It helps in killing the TB bacteria in the body. This injection is used under the supervision of a doctor and is usually part of the first stage of treatment.

Another very important medicine used in TB treatment is Isoniazid. It is taken in the form of a tablet. This medicine helps stop the growth of TB bacteria. Isoniazid belongs to a group of medicines that are used to control and cure TB. However, it has some special effects on the body.

Isoniazid acts as an antagonist (opposite) to Vitamin B6 (also called pyridoxine). This means that it reduces the effect of Vitamin B6 in the body. Vitamin B6 is very important for our nerves and general health. So, when a person takes Isoniazid, they are usually also advised to take Vitamin B6 supplements to prevent side effects like nerve problems.

Because Isoniazid affects Vitamin B6, doctors recommend taking Vitamin B complex along with TB medicines. This helps maintain the body’s strength and avoids weakness or other health issues during treatment.

Proper diet and rest are also important parts of TB treatment. A TB patient should eat healthy food and take full rest. Nutrition plays a big role in healing. Without good food and rest, the body may not recover well even with medicines.

The treatment of TB usually takes 6 months or longer, depending on the patient’s condition. If someone in the family has TB, it is important to:

Start treatment immediately

Complete the full course of treatment (usually 6 months to 1 year)

Ensure children in the family get the BCG vaccine, which protects against TB.

If treatment is stopped early or skipped, the disease can come back or become more dangerous. That’s why regular medicine and follow-ups with the doctor are very important.

Conclusion:

TB is a serious but curable disease. With the right combination of medicines like Streptomycin and Isoniazid, and proper care like taking Vitamin B6, eating well, and taking rest, TB can be treated successfully. People must complete the full course of treatment and follow all medical advice to fully recover and stop the spread of TB to others.
