Among those expelled is house staff member Ashish Pandey, who is already in CBI custody for his alleged involvement in financial irregularities. As per the notification, all ten doctors have been instructed to vacate the medical college hostel within 72 hours, and their registration documents will be sent to the Bengal Medical Council for appropriate disciplinary action.

The expelled doctors include Ayusree Thapa, Saurav Pal, Abhishek Sen, Nirjan Bagchi, S. Hasan, Nilagni Debnath, Amarendra Singh, Satpal Singh, and Tanveer Ahmed Qazi. The decision comes amid allegations that these doctors were involved in various forms of misconduct, including pressuring others to fail in their academic pursuits, forcing individuals out of the hostel, coercing juniors to join a specific political party, sexual harassment, abuse, and extortion. There are also allegations that these individuals falsely filed police reports against students.

The hospital authorities’ decision to take strict action by expelling the doctors and notifying the Bengal Medical Council indicates their intent to uphold standards of professionalism and ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff. This case has also drawn attention to the issues of corruption, abuse, and misconduct that can exist within medical institutions, and calls for reforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
