Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led central government on Tuesday, claiming that he was arrested and jailed to tarnish his image by portraying him as corrupt. Kejriwal, who was addressing a roadshow in support of AAP candidate Harpinder Singh in the Rania constituency of Sirsa, Haryana, ahead of the October 5 Vidhan Sabha elections, said even his strongest opponents know he is not corrupt.
The former Delhi Chief Minister stated that he spent five and a half months in jail without any reason. “What was my fault?” he asked, pointing to his 10-year tenure as Delhi’s Chief Minister, during which he built quality schools for underprivileged children and ensured consistent electricity supply, even making it free in Delhi and Punjab.
Kejriwal accused the BJP of imprisoning him to damage his reputation. He emphasized that people are aware of his integrity and know that he is not a “thief.” His remarks come amid a tense political atmosphere, with both parties competing for power in the upcoming Haryana elections.
