The charge sheet, submitted to a special CBI court in Kolkata, alleges that Roy, who served as a volunteer with the local police, committed the crime against the victim on August 9. According to the charge sheet, the trainee doctor had gone to rest in the seminar hall during a break in her duty when Roy assaulted and killed her.

The CBI has clarified that there was no mention of gang-rape in the charge sheet, indicating that Roy committed the crime alone. The brutal nature of the incident has shocked the medical community and prompted widespread protests from junior doctors demanding justice and improved workplace safety for female staff.

This development is seen as a significant step in the investigation, as authorities continue to pursue justice for the victim. The case has highlighted concerns over safety and security in medical institutions, particularly for women, leading to demands for stricter regulations and protections for medical professionals.
