Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that achieving peace and stability in West Bengal requires an end to cross-border infiltration. He claimed this challenge can only be resolved if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) assumes power in the state in 2026. Speaking at the opening of a new passenger terminal building and cargo gate at the Petrapol land port along the India-Bangladesh border, Shah criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, holding it accountable for corruption and weak border policies.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Shah urged the people of West Bengal to consider a political change in the upcoming 2026 state elections. He stressed that only a BJP-led government could put a stop to illegal immigration, which he argues continues under the TMC’s governance.

The Petrapol land port is a critical point of entry between India and Bangladesh, handling significant volumes of passenger and cargo traffic. Shah’s comments highlighted BJP’s commitment to tightening border security, which they believe would bolster the state’s law and order.
