A court is expected to deliver its decision tomorrow regarding the regular bail application of Engineer Rashid, a Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. Additional Sessions Judge Chandra Jeet Singh, who previously granted Rashid bail for campaigning purposes in Jammu and Kashmir, had postponed the ruling on his regular bail application.
Rashid, who was arrested in 2019 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a 2017 terror funding case, has been detained in Tihar Jail since then. The court previously extended interim bail for Rashid’s father due to health concerns, granting him relief until October 28.
The upcoming decision will determine whether Rashid will continue to be held in custody or be granted regular bail, marking a significant development in the long-standing case. Rashid’s legal team is hopeful for a favorable outcome, as his detainment has impacted his role as a public representative. The court’s ruling could affect not only his political standing but also ongoing legal proceedings in the terror funding case.
