An Air India flight from Delhi to Indore had to make an emergency landing on Sunday morning after the pilot received a fire warning signal from the right engine. The aircraft, an Airbus A320neo, returned safely to Delhi airport with over 90 passengers on board.
According to officials, the incident happened shortly after the flight, AI2913, took off. Around 6:15 am, the cockpit crew noticed a fire indication in the right engine. Following standard safety protocols, the pilots immediately shut down the engine and decided to return to Delhi. The aircraft landed safely without any harm to passengers or crew members.
Sources revealed that the plane had been in the air for more than 30 minutes before landing back in Delhi. Flight-tracking website Flightradar24 also confirmed that the A320neo circled in the air before returning.
Air India, owned by Tata Group, issued a statement confirming the incident but did not share detailed technical reasons. The airline said that all passengers are safe and are being shifted to another aircraft for their journey to Indore.
The grounded plane will undergo inspection to determine the exact cause of the engine warning. Passengers praised the crew for their calm handling of the emergency.
