Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday held a telephonic conversation with Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to review the flood situation in the state. According to officials, both the Governor and the Chief Minister briefed the Home Minister about the current conditions and the measures being taken by the state administration for rescue and relief of affected people.

During the discussion, Amit Shah assured them of all possible support from the central government to help Punjab deal with the crisis. Heavy and continuous rainfall has caused several districts of the state to come under floodwaters, leading to major damage and disruption of normal life.

The Punjab government has already announced the closure of schools across the state till September 3, keeping in view the safety of children and staff. Rescue operations are ongoing in many flood-hit areas, with authorities working round the clock to provide food, shelter, and medical aid to the affected population.

The assurance of central assistance is expected to strengthen relief efforts and provide some relief to the people facing hardship due to the worsening situation. Citizens have been urged to stay cautious and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
