A central government team today visited the flood-affected areas of district Gurdaspur to assess the damage caused by floods along the Ravi River. The team first reached village Dharmkot Randhawa near Dera Baba Nanak, one of the worst-hit areas. They interacted with the flood-affected families and gathered details of losses from district administration officials.
After this, the team inspected the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, which has also suffered damage due to flooding. The officials carefully examined the site to understand the extent of destruction and its impact on connectivity.
Later, the central team continued its visit to other affected regions including Kalanaur and Bahirampur. At each location, they reviewed the damage to houses, farmland, and infrastructure.
Speaking to the media, officials from the central team said that their visit aimed to get a ground-level view of the situation. They assured people that all details of losses will be compiled and sent to the central government in the form of a detailed report. This report is expected to help in deciding the relief measures and future planning to prevent such destruction.
Residents expressed hope that this visit would bring much-needed support and rehabilitation to flood-hit villages.
