Cyclone Dana Impacts Over 35 Lakh People in Odisha, Relief Efforts Underway

Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, reported that Cyclone Dana and resulting floods have affected 35.95 lakh people across 14 districts. Majorly impacted districts include Kendrapara, Balasore, and Bhadrak. Although no injuries have been reported, nearly 8,10,896 people have been evacuated to 6,210 cyclone relief centers.

As of Sunday morning, evacuees were being provided with food and essential supplies across 1,178 relief centers. The cyclone has disrupted life in 1,671 gram panchayats across 108 blocks, highlighting the widespread nature of the disaster.

Preliminary assessments indicate that approximately 5,840 houses have been partially or fully damaged due to the cyclone and floods. The Odisha government continues to coordinate relief efforts to support affected residents and ensure access to essential resources.
