A team from the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, arrived in Mumbai today for a two-day visit to assess preparations for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Election Commissioners Gianesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, along with other senior officials, also reached the city in the evening.
According to an official statement, the team will meet with various stakeholders over the course of Friday and Saturday. These include representatives from political parties, enforcement agencies, nodal officers of central paramilitary forces, special police nodal officers, chief electoral officers, and senior state officials. Additionally, meetings with the state’s Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DGP), and other senior police officers are scheduled.
The purpose of these meetings is to ensure smooth and transparent election processes, focusing on security measures, enforcement of election laws, and coordination between different agencies. The commission’s visit is an important step in ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place ahead of the elections.
