In a dramatic turn of events, a peaceful farmer dharna near the Sutlej river took a violent turn following the death of young farmer Shubkaran. The protest, organized by Bharatiya Kisan Union leaders from Jalandhar district, commenced at 11 am and continued until 2 am, causing significant disruptions.

Tensions escalated when a youth from another district, Nawanshahr, allegedly vandalized vehicles with a stick. Farmer leaders claimed he was a government-trained agent sent to provoke violence. The arrested youth’s actions, supposedly outside the call of the Jalandhar district leaders, raised suspicions of government involvement.

Despite the allegations, the farmer leaders assured the public that they would bear the expenses to repair the damaged vehicles. The protest not only impacted the general public but also affected ambulance services and school children commuting to Ludhiana, Phillaur, and Phagwara.

The dharna officially concluded at 2 am, but the resulting traffic jam persisted for over two hours. Numerous farmer leaders, along with other prominent figures, participated in the demonstration. As investigations unfold, the incident underscores the complexities surrounding the ongoing farmer protests and their broader societal implications.
