The Lokayukta Police have registered an FIR against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, along with his wife Parvathy and brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority land allotment case. The action was taken following an order by Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhatt of the special court for criminal cases involving MPs and MLAs on Wednesday.
The court directed the Lokayukta Police to investigate allegations related to irregularities in land allotments. Siddaramaiah, however, responded confidently, stating that he is not afraid of “political cases” and dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. He claimed that the opposition is targeting him because they fear his influence.
The case has added to the ongoing political tensions in Karnataka, with Siddaramaiah’s political opponents leveraging the investigation as a point of criticism. The Chief Minister, meanwhile, maintains that the accusations are baseless and a result of political vendettas aimed at weakening his leadership.
The Lokayukta Police will now proceed with a formal investigation as per the court’s directive, with further developments expected in the case.
