Junior doctors from various medical colleges in West Bengal are continuing their hunger strike for the fifth day, demanding justice for the rape and murder incident at RG Kar Hospital. Nine doctors are participating in the protest, which started at Dorina Chowk in Kolkata’s Dharamtala area on Saturday evening. The doctors had previously staged a ‘stop work’ strike that affected health services, but they decided to end it and start the hunger strike instead.

The protest is taking place during Durga Puja, one of the most significant festivals in West Bengal, but the doctors remain determined to highlight their demands. They are seeking swift action from the authorities regarding the case, which has caused widespread outrage among the medical community. Despite the festive atmosphere, the protest has garnered attention from both the public and the media, as the doctors continue their fight for justice.

The incident has sparked a major discussion about the safety of healthcare professionals and the need for stricter measures to ensure a secure working environment in hospitals. The junior doctors have vowed to continue their strike until their demands are addressed.
