Police in Meghalaya have solved the shocking murder case of a tourist from Indore who went missing during his honeymoon. The man was allegedly killed by contract killers hired by his own wife. The woman, who had been absconding, surrendered to police in Uttar Pradesh, while three of the attackers have also been arrested in overnight raids.

The couple had traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon after getting married on May 11. They arrived in the Mawlakhiat area on May 22, riding a rented scooter. The next day, May 23, they went missing. Their scooter was later found parked near a café on the Shillong-Sohra road. Search operations were immediately launched.

On June 2, the husband’s body was found in a deep gorge near the Weisadong Falls. His gold ring and chain were missing, raising suspicion of foul play. A day later, a blood-stained knife was discovered nearby, and a raincoat resembling the one the couple had used was found in a nearby village.

Police investigations revealed that a tourist guide had seen the couple with three unknown men on the day they went missing. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by a Superintendent of Police and assisted by four DSPs, was formed to crack the case.

Further inquiries led to arrests in Uttar Pradesh and Indore. The wife, who had vanished after the incident, surrendered at a local police station in Ghazipur, UP. Interrogations revealed that she had planned her husband’s murder and hired contract killers to carry it out during their trip.

The attackers have confessed to receiving instructions and payment from the wife. Police are now searching for more individuals involved in the crime and carrying out operations in Madhya Pradesh to arrest the remaining suspects.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the country, as it involved a newlywed couple and took place in a popular tourist destination. The brutality of the crime and the betrayal involved have drawn public attention and widespread outrage.

Authorities have praised the swift and efficient work of the Meghalaya police in solving this complex case. State leaders have called for justice and strict punishment for all involved. Meanwhile, calls are growing for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry to ensure thorough and impartial handling of the case.

This case is a grim reminder of how personal relationships can sometimes take tragic and criminal turns. The investigation continues, and police are expected to file a detailed charge sheet soon.
