Nitin Nabin was formally announced as the new national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the party. He replaces JP Nadda and becomes the youngest leader to hold the party’s top organizational post at the age of 45. The announcement was made by returning officer K. Lakshman, who handed over the election certificate to Nabin after declaring the results of the party’s organizational elections.

The ceremony took place at the BJP headquarters in the presence of several senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outgoing president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other prominent party figures. The event highlighted the party’s emphasis on leadership transition and organizational strength as it seeks to further consolidate its influence in national politics.

After assuming office, Nitin Nabin delivered his first address as BJP president, focusing strongly on the role of youth in politics. He urged young Indians to actively participate in the political process but warned them against entering politics with the mindset of enjoying power. According to him, politics should be seen as a medium of service, not as a tool for personal gain or authority.

“Staying away from politics is not a solution,” Nabin said while addressing the youth. “But always remember, politics is not about the desire for power. It is about service and sacrifice.” He compared political life to a marathon rather than a short race, saying it tests patience, endurance, and commitment rather than speed. His remarks were widely seen as a call for value-based and long-term political engagement.

Nitin Nabin is the 12th national president of the BJP. Interestingly, the party was founded in 1980, the same year Nabin was born, a fact often mentioned by party leaders as symbolic of generational change. Before taking over as national president, he was appointed as the BJP’s working president on December 14 last year. Following this appointment, he resigned from his ministerial positions in the Bihar government, where he served as Minister for Law and Justice, Urban Development, and Housing.

Announcing the election results, K. Lakshman said the BJP’s internal election process reflects the party’s belief in merit and dedication rather than dynasty politics. “This election shows that BJP leadership emerges from hard work and commitment, not from family privilege,” he said.

Outgoing president JP Nadda also addressed the gathering and described the moment as historic. He praised Nitin Nabin as a young, energetic, and talented leader and congratulated him on taking charge of what he called the world’s largest political party. Nadda said he was confident that under Nabin’s leadership, the BJP would continue to grow stronger and remain committed to its core principles.
With Nitin Nabin at the helm, the BJP is expected to focus on organizational expansion, youth participation, and strengthening its political base across the country.
