Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has once again called Kashmir the “jugular vein” of Pakistan while addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Tampa, Florida. Munir warned that Pakistan would defend its water rights at all costs. He is currently on an official visit to the United States, meeting Pakistani community members as well as senior political and military leaders.
Munir stated that Pakistan had responded “with determination and strength” during recent tensions with India, making it clear that any attack from India would receive a “strong reply.” He reiterated that Pakistan would not forget the Kashmir issue, claiming it was an “unfinished international agenda.”
India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected Munir’s remarks, stating, “How can something belonging to another country be called its jugular vein? Kashmir is a Union Territory of India, and Pakistan must vacate the illegally occupied areas.”
Munir’s statement comes weeks after the Pahalgam attack, where he had made similar comments. Referring to Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Munir repeated, “Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein.” The remarks reflect Pakistan’s continued stance on Kashmir despite India’s firm position that it is an internal matter.
