Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public rally in Mangaldoi, Assam, strongly criticized the Congress party. He alleged that instead of standing with the Indian Army, Congress supports terrorists trained in Pakistan. Modi accused Congress of protecting infiltrators and anti-national forces, claiming that the BJP will never allow them to grab land or increase their population through illegal means.

Highlighting development works, Modi compared the performance of Congress and BJP governments in Assam. He said that despite ruling Assam for decades, Congress built only three bridges over the Brahmaputra River, while the BJP-led government constructed six bridges in the last ten years. He also praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for freeing occupied lands from infiltrators and ensuring that farmers could use them for cultivation.

On the economic front, the Prime Minister said India is emerging as one of the fastest-growing economies but remains dependent on crude oil and gas imports. The BJP government, he assured, is working to reduce this dependence by exploring biofuels and promoting green energy. Modi stressed that Assam’s growth rate of 13% is proof of the “double-engine government” and said the Northeast will play a vital role in building a developed India.
