Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Maldivian President Mohammed Muizu on Monday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations between India and the Maldives. President Muizu arrived in India on Sunday evening for a four-day visit aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries. The External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared on X that PM Modi warmly welcomed President Muizu at Hyderabad House, emphasizing the special relationship shared by India and the Maldives.
Earlier, President Draupadi Murmu also formally welcomed President Muizu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where PM Modi was present. The meetings highlight the importance of India-Maldives ties in the context of regional stability and collaboration. During his visit, President Muizu paid homage at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial, reflecting on the historical ties between the two nations. The discussions between Modi and Muizu are expected to cover a range of topics, including economic cooperation, security, and cultural exchange, further solidifying the partnership and mutual support between India and the Maldives. The visit underscores the commitment of both leaders to work closely together in addressing common challenges and enhancing their strategic relationship.
