Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Gurdaspur today to review the massive destruction caused by recent floods in Punjab. During his visit, he will directly meet displaced families, farmers, and flood-hit people to listen to their problems. Sources say the Prime Minister will assure full central government support and instruct officials to speed up relief and rehabilitation work.

Currently, 23 districts of Punjab are submerged due to the floods, leaving thousands homeless and causing heavy crop damage. In Pathankot, the Prime Minister will hold a review meeting with top state officials to assess the ongoing relief measures. He is also scheduled to conduct an aerial survey of the worst-affected regions.

A key focus of Modi’s visit will be to check riverbanks and investigate issues like illegal sand mining, which worsened flood damage. The Prime Minister may also make a major announcement regarding relief packages for affected families and farmers.

It is worth noting that Modi had a telephonic conversation with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann yesterday regarding the crisis. Two central teams have already been sent to Punjab to study the ground situation, and their reports will be submitted to the Union government soon.
