Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the flood-affected areas of Amritsar on Monday. He interacted with people who were badly impacted by the recent floods. Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, and other party leaders accompanied him during the visit.

Rahul Gandhi first reached Ghonewal village in Ajnala, one of the worst-hit areas, where he sat with locals and listened to their problems. He assured them that their voices will be raised at the national level. Later, he was scheduled to offer prayers at the historic Gurdwara Baba Buddha Sahib in Ramdas. He is also expected to visit flood-affected areas in Gurdaspur district, including Dera Baba Nanak.
According to reports, Punjab has faced one of the worst floods in recent decades. Over 1.98 lakh hectares of farmland have been damaged, mostly in districts like Gurdaspur, Patiala, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Ferozepur, and Kapurthala. The death toll has reached 56.
Earlier, Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring termed the floods a “man-made disaster,” blaming both state and central governments for negligence. The situation remains serious, with massive loss to crops, homes, and lives.
