Rising Yamuna River Poses Flood Threat in Delhi

The Yamuna River in Delhi has crossed the danger mark, raising serious flood concerns in the city. On Monday, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge touched 205.80 meters, which is higher than the danger mark of 205.33 meters. Early morning readings already showed the river flowing at 205.68 meters, and later it rose further after a large amount of water was released from Haryana.

Officials reported that 1.76 lakh cusecs of water was released from Hathni Kund Barrage, 69,210 cusecs from Wazirabad, and 73,619 cusecs from Okhla Barrage. Due to this, water levels are expected to touch 206 meters by evening. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured that the government is fully prepared to handle the situation. Residents living in flood-prone areas have been advised to move to safer locations.

Landslides Disrupt Life in Himachal Pradesh

In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains have triggered multiple landslides, causing massive disruption in Mandi and Kullu districts. Over 257 roads have been blocked, including the vital Kiratpur-Manali highway, which connects Kullu-Manali, Lahaul-Spiti, and Ladakh.

More than 2,000 vehicles are stranded as landslides continue to block key routes. Even the alternative road via Katola has been closed, leaving no immediate option for travel. Stranded passengers and tourists are facing severe difficulties as the weather remains unpredictable.
