The Supreme Court of India announced today that it will address petitions requesting the release of answer keys and question papers for the NEET-PG 2024 exam, held on August 11. The petitions highlight a need for increased transparency in the exam process, which determines admissions to postgraduate medical courses across the country.
Advocate Tanvi Dubey, representing a group of concerned students, presented the case before a bench consisting of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra. Dubey argued that the exam’s information memorandum was not made available, raising questions about the clarity and fairness of the exam administration. She further noted a lack of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for how the examination was conducted, leaving many students and states uncertain about the counseling and admission processes.
The justices acknowledged the complexity of the issues raised and emphasized the need for a detailed examination of the matter. To ensure a comprehensive review, they directed the case to be scheduled on a “non-diverse day,” which allows for extended hearing time. The hearing is expected to address both the transparency of the NEET-PG exam and potential implications for future counseling processes.
