After the recent military tensions between India and Pakistan, American President Donald Trump has made a strong appeal for peace. His statement came after India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and parts of Pakistan’s Punjab province. These strikes have led to a sharp rise in military activity along the Line of Control (LoC), with Pakistan retaliating through heavy artillery and mortar shelling on Indian border villages in Jammu and Kashmir.

President Trump expressed deep concern over the situation and called it “very dangerous.” Speaking from the Oval Office on Wednesday, he said, “The situation is very serious. I work well with both countries. I know them both very well and I want to see them resolve this issue. I hope they stop now.”

Trump added that both India and Pakistan have carried out retaliatory actions against each other and it’s time to stop. “They’ve done what they needed to do to teach each other a lesson. Now I hope they can stop. We have very good relations with both countries and I want peace to return to the region,” he said.

His comments came during an event at the White House, shortly after attending the swearing-in ceremony of David Perdue as the new U.S. Ambassador to China. Trump answered a question regarding the potential for war between India and Pakistan by saying, “We have great relationships with both. I don’t want to see a war happen. And if I can do anything to help, I’ll be there.”

The U.S. President emphasized that the United States is willing to play a role if both nations want assistance. “If there’s anything I can do to help, I will be ready. Peace is in everyone’s interest,” he said.

This statement by Trump is being seen as a call for restraint amid fears of a larger conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. His offer to help suggests that the U.S. is watching the South Asian region closely and is ready to step in as a mediator if necessary.

In recent years, the U.S. has maintained strong ties with both countries. While it has deepened its defense and trade partnership with India, it has also supported Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism. Trump’s balanced approach in his statement indicates that the U.S. wants to prevent further escalation without directly siding with either party.

As tensions continue to rise, the international community, including the United Nations, is also urging both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and return to dialogue. President Trump’s remarks may act as a diplomatic push toward de-escalation and peace talks.

For now, the region remains on high alert, but Trump’s statement offers a hope that back-channel diplomacy or external mediation could ease the tension between the two nations.
