Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited flood-affected areas of Punjab and assured that the central government will provide all possible help to the state. He toured the worst-hit districts of Majha, including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Kapurthala, to review the situation.
At village Dharmkot Randhawa near Dera Baba Nanak, Chouhan interacted with flood victims and said he would submit a detailed report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that PM Modi had specially sent him to Punjab to assess the condition of flood-hit areas. During his visit, Chouhan also traveled on a tractor to reach affected villages and later visited Behrampur near Dinanagar.
Speaking to the media, the minister praised Punjab, calling it the pride of India, and acknowledged the state’s sacrifices in times of national crisis. He assured that the people of Punjab will not be left alone during this disaster.
Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian informed that the state has already released ₹71 crore for relief, including ₹35.5 crore for the 12 most affected districts. Local leaders also demanded a special relief package and immediate repair of the flood-damaged Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
