Nepal is facing one of its worst political and social crises. The government’s decision to ban 26 social media platforms and rising anger against corruption have triggered violent protests across the country. Thousands of young people, mostly from Generation Z, are on the streets damaging public property, burning vehicles, and clashing with security forces. At least 21 people have lost their lives, while hundreds are injured.

In a shocking incident, protesters attacked former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, his wife, and Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba. A video shows Deuba bleeding and running to save his life from furious protesters. Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel was also chased and beaten badly in public. The violence spread further as the homes of former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Deuba were also attacked.

Under mounting pressure, several ministers resigned, including the Home, Agriculture, Health, and Water Supply ministers. Finally, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli stepped down, leaving the country leaderless. Protesters even stormed the parliament building, setting it on fire. The unrest has created deep political instability, forcing many leaders to seek safety. Nepal now stands at a dangerous crossroads, with an uncertain future ahead.
