Police have arrested a young man accused of threatening to kill the Chief Minister of Delhi. The accused has been identified as Shlok Tripathi. According to the police, he is known for being dishonest and often changes his identity to mislead people.
The threat was made late Thursday night through an emergency helpline number, 112, from Ghaziabad. Assistant Police Commissioner of Ghaziabad stated that the caller made the threat during the night between Thursday and Friday. As soon as the call was received, Ghaziabad police informed the Delhi police and sent a team to the Panchvati Colony, the area from where the call was traced.
At that time, the caller managed to escape before being caught. However, after ongoing efforts, he was finally arrested on Saturday during a joint operation by Ghaziabad Police and Delhi Police. He was taken to the office of the Delhi Police Special Cell in the north-west part of the city for questioning.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he made the threatening call while he was drunk. He also confessed that he had no serious intention behind the threat and acted under the influence of alcohol. However, authorities are treating the matter seriously and continuing their investigation.
Police officials have emphasized that any threat to public leaders is a serious matter and cannot be ignored. They also stated that strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disrupt peace or spread fear through such actions.
The arrest has brought some relief, but the incident serves as a reminder of the increasing misuse of communication systems by individuals for dangerous and irresponsible behavior. Security around the Chief Minister has also been reviewed and strengthened as a precaution.
