The BJP today criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement to resign as Delhi Chief Minister in two days, calling it an “emotional move.” BJP National Spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala accused Kejriwal of playing a political game, stating, “He is pretending to resign because the court has not acquitted him in the Excise Policy Scam case. He has only been granted bail with conditions, which could lead to his removal as Chief Minister.”
Poonawala further claimed that Kejriwal’s decision to step down was not a result of personal integrity but rather an attempt to manipulate public sentiment and avoid the consequences of the ongoing legal case. He added, “Kejriwal’s actions are more about political drama than accountability.”
This statement comes after Kejriwal’s declaration that he would resign and demand early elections in Delhi, asserting that he would only return to office if the people give him a “certificate of honesty.” The BJP, however, sees this as a strategy to distract from the corruption allegations he is facing.
