Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a press conference today, unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Shah emphasized that Article 370, which previously granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, is now a thing of the past and will not be reinstated in the Union Territory. He highlighted that the achievements of the last ten years, including the abrogation of Article 370, will be recorded as a significant chapter in India’s history, particularly for Jammu and Kashmir.
The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1. Shah also made it clear that the Indian government is not interested in engaging in dialogue with Pakistan unless terrorism comes to an end. He firmly stated that negotiations and violence cannot coexist, underlining India’s firm stance against terrorism. The BJP manifesto focuses on development, security, and the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India, reiterating the party’s commitment to a strong and united nation.
