As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, the Election Commission has put its plan into action, ensuring rigorous enforcement of the election code. With the release of the election schedule on March 16, the Commission has deployed teams around the clock in every assembly area.
Comprising of nine teams for each Vidhan Sabha area, these units have been strategically divided into shifts to ensure continuous coverage. Each team, led by police personnel serving as class one officers alongside sector officers, is tasked with maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
One of the primary focuses of these teams is to address complaints regarding the distribution of alcohol or money aimed at influencing voters. To bolster their surveillance capabilities, the Election Commission has implemented a sophisticated online monitoring system. Cameras have been permanently installed in the vehicles assigned to these teams, with direct links to the Commission. This allows real-time monitoring of team activities and detection of any violations of the election code.
With these measures in place, the Election Commission is poised to uphold the principles of fair and transparent elections, ensuring that the voice of the people remains paramount in the democratic process.
