Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday welcomed the statement made by US President Donald Trump about removing trade barriers between India and the United States. Modi described India and the US as “close friends and natural partners.” He said both countries are working hard to complete trade talks as soon as possible. Modi also expressed excitement about his upcoming discussions with Trump, saying that India and the US will work together to secure a bright and prosperous future for their people.
President Trump, in a post on his platform ‘Truth Social’ on Tuesday, said he is confident that there will be “no difficulty” in reaching successful outcomes in the trade talks with India. He added that he looks forward to speaking with his “good friend” Prime Minister Modi in the coming weeks. Trump mentioned that discussions are already taking place to resolve obstacles in the trade agreement.
This development comes after tensions had risen between the two countries when Trump imposed a 50 percent tariff on India for buying oil from Russia. Now, both leaders are showing optimism that trade negotiations will open new opportunities for cooperation and strengthen the long-standing partnership between India and the United States.
